join the excitement
The World Cup is coming to the region! Here’s how you can get involved, show your local pride, and contribute to making this a successful event.
What to Expect
Lee’s Summit is proud to be part of the excitement surrounding the 2026 World Cup in Kansas City. We anticipate more than 650,000 visitors coming to the Kansas City region from around the world — including fans from our base camp countries and the nations competing in matches at Arrowhead Stadium.
With global visitors comes incredible energy — and some temporary adjustments.
Here’s what residents can expect:
- Increased traffic throughout the region, especially on match days
- Longer wait times at restaurants, shops, and local attractions
- Higher hotel occupancy
- Larger crowds in Downtown Lee’s Summit and surrounding areas
- Expanded programming and community celebrations
To celebrate, Lee’s Summit will host Futbol Fridays every Friday during the World Cup, featuring live music, kids activities, food trucks, match watch parties, and special themed events — many aligning with Fourth Friday Art Walk and community celebrations.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase our city on a global stage.
We encourage residents to plan ahead for travel, dining, and errands — especially during match days and major events.
Community Pride
This is our moment to shine.
Lee’s Summit has always been known for its hospitality, heart, and hometown pride. As visitors from around the world arrive, we have the opportunity to show them what makes our community special.
We encourage residents to:
- Welcome visitors with kindness and friendliness
- Support local businesses
- Decorate storefronts and neighborhoods
- Attend community events
- Wear your USA and soccer colors/teams proudly
A smile, a recommendation to a favorite local restaurant, or a simple “Welcome to Lee’s Summit” goes a long way.
Let’s show the world who we are.
Transportation
Lee’s Summit is proud to serve as a transportation hub for the region during the World Cup via the ConnectKC
